What is a landing page?

When people ask what is a landing page? I reply with a simple answer, “A landing page is a website page that is designed with a single focus goal or objective”

The idea of a landing page is to convert visitors into subscribers, followers and/or customers. There are two types of landing pages; Click through landing pages and lead generation landing pages.

As a local business owner, you may want your landing page to convert website visitors into leads (lead generation landing pages) through online booking forms or phone calls. On the other hand you may want website visitors to click through and buy a particular product or service on your landing page (Click through landing pages).

How To Create High Converting Landing Pages

It’s important to note that most landing pages are designed for paid traffic. This means that you are paying Google ads, Facebook or other marketing channels to send targeted traffic to your website landing pages. Therefore, you want to ensure that you have built a high converting landing page. Otherwise, you may be wasting all your money on paid advertising efforts and seeing little or no return.

Below we have listed five important elements for creating a high converting landing page:

1 – Understand your single focus object for each landing page. Identify your CTA (Call to action). What do you want visitors to do once they land on your website landing page?

2 – Make sure you have minimal links for visitors to click on once they click through to your landing. You should only have one link or button for visitors to click on. Also, make sure you use only three theme colours and do not introduce new colours onto the page. KEEP IT SIMPLE.

3 – Make sure your landing page CTA (Call to action) is obvious to users as soon as they land on your website page.

4 – Use social proof, this is to instill confidence in the product or service that you are providing. This can be in the form of testimonies and reviews.

5 – Reflect and review your content. Make sure you ask for landing page feedback from friends, family or customers. It’s important to catch any mistakes or issues with your design before you begin sending paid traffic to your website landing page.
